Very poetic, swittle!

I had race 5 of 6 in the winter series yesterday. I was 3rd female and am now in 2nd place overall. I beat my "nemesis" by nearly 3 minutes so she is in third, 2 points behind and there is another runner who is faster than me in 4th place, 4 points behind me. If we all show up next month, it will be a fight to the death and will depend on how many other runners turn up who can get in between me and them but I'm hopeful of getting 2nd or 3rd place. (I have never beaten the woman who is now in 1st place so if she comes next month, she will win overall.)

There are a good few runners who are faster than me, but stubborness in terrible weather is the key: not every runner does every race so while they huddle at home under a blanket, I'm out there, running a 55min 10k in a blizzard to chalk up points :)

Cheers, swittle. I put in a swift 15k today for good measure. I don't wish my competitors any ill of course, but perhaps a small hangover to put them off form would be acceptable; and then some bad weather so there are not too many in-between runners to eat up my points! (It's 10 for a win, 9 for 2nd, 8 for 3rd and so forth until everyone gets at least 1 point. You would not believe how agile my mental maths is these days, lol!)

Another cracker, round the local hills, up and over, cold to start, and cold later on, with the dogs. Ground conditions near perfect.

Planned to do 13 miles. Was having a great run - pace good, felt great, then got a twinge in my left calf just after 8 miles having done all the hill work. Jogged 1.5 miles home so not to overdo it. Still disappointed nevertheless.

Sorry to read of your woes, Icelandic Trigirl. :( Innate fitness will surely kick in.

Last night: 5 miles off road/x-country in minimal light, including Marina, prom and beach. Only slightly scary ;)
