A bit unfair to penalise runners with GFA times for a mistake out with their control.
I would assume some of those running London this weekend qualified in Manchester?

Would have thought so Ultracat, one of my friends ran Boston last week on the basis of a qualifying time from Manchester in 2015.

How many of the elites used one of those Manchester Marathon times for a qualifying time as well? Can think of Andrew Davies in 2014 getting 9 seconds under the Commonwealth A standard to qualify for the games for Wales. If it wasn't for it being short he wouldn't have went to the Commonwealth games. Obviously not his fault, but is there anyone who missed out of an entry for something because someone else got a faster time at Manchester?

The Ox has had to change its route due to a stroppy landowner. Their update made me smile, the ultra is now 38 ish miles, and the marathon is 26.2 miles, just like Manchester! Seems that the Manchester marathon has gone from being everyone's favourite to everyone's joke

I've got to say that it is really p***ing me off that people who have had no direct involvement in this mess are commenting on this (and I don't mean on this thread), and in particular people with directly conflicting agendas. I've seen other event organisers (particular of rival events) making a joke or posting disparaging comments about this, when it could quite easily have been their own event that was the subject of an error by the course measurer. I've also seen someone I believe to be a friend of the particular course measurer who made the mistake saying it is unfair of the organisers to blame the measurement, when the measurers own association are the ones who admitted it was their fault.
As everybody on here probably knows, I love this event. I've ran it four out of the last five years, and supported the other year. But more than that, as a local resident, I can see both the economical and community benefit it brings to the area I live, and therefore I want to see it continue to be a success. An to their credit Xtra Mile events have been instrumental in first setting up the event (and all the issues with Manchester City Council not supporting it), and then getting the communities involved, when there doesn't appear to have been anybody else to do this.
Whilst I accept that everyone has the right to complain about this mess, I wonder whether all the keyboard warriors (mostly on Twitter and Facebook) demanding refunds for the three "marathons" they were "robbed" of, or free places for next year, or that UKA not allow Xtra Mile to ever organise an event in the future, realise the wider benefits this race brings and that their demands, if implemented, would almost certainly result in both the loss of the race and the benefits.
With that, I'm going to take a break from this thread, it is upsetting me seeing the event I love being dismantled

Nelly I enjoyed my time in Manchester, it's a great city with loads to offer, and I enjoyed my marathon experience and would run it again.
