Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

VLM 2016 has just got a discussion thread today, so it must be time for the 2nd most popular marathon with Fetchies to have a discussion thread for the 2016 race :-) :-) :-)

I've taken advantage of the discount code provided to this years runners (which expires tonight if you have one and currently undecided), and am entered already for next year. Who's joining me in Manchester in April '16?

As it finishes outside Old Trafford football ground the race date can't be agreed until the football fixtures are released in June(ish). But entries are open already, with a £5 discount to account for the date uncertainty.

There are also half/half relay, 4 leg relay and Corporate Relays (I think my company will be returning to defend the title we won this year) for anybody not up for the full distance.

Tempting. Very tempting.... but...
I know it's completely the wrong thing to say here, but I do really want to run that race darn sarf one of these days. I'll probably enter their ballot again, be disappointed again and then enter Manchester in October and pay more.
Absolutely brilliant race though. Done it twice and would whole heartedly recommend it to anyone.

What kept you so long Nelly ;-)

Far, far too early for me to be thinking of races for spring 2016, but will be keeping an eye on things here in the meantime :-)

Would love to do it again next year but I'm doing Paris. Hopefully will be back for 2017 with my running mate to get another pb.

Ha ha ha Gus... like I said I was waiting for a VLM thread to appear, but I knew given the ballot opens on Monday it wouldn't be too long :-p

Nicholls / Wooters, can't you both just do them both (subject to GMM not clashing with Paris, as the organisers have said they pick a date to avoid clashes with football fixtures, VLM and Easter)? ;-)

Never too early Nelly. I'll be doing it again but going to wait for the date to be announced so I can get it off work if necessary :-)

Nelly, I'd love to but I have to contend with the missus who is already angry with me for doing paris, she really wants to go, just the two of us, romantic like, so I booked the race with a mate and said she can come along too! Plus my mate and I have said, depending on how my autumn marathon goes, we'd try to get a GFA time at paris, sub 3:05, he's done 3:10 at London this year, I'm a bit(lot) slower

Not for me next year. It was a lovely event though and I will be back when I start racing marathons again.

Unsure at the minute. The closest of the spring marathons to me, but I don't know if I want the pain of a marathon yet ;-).

This is pencilled in for me for next year. Had wanted to do it this year but a job and house move made me realise in December it was not the ideal time for my first. But next April I hit the 3-0 so that would be a good reason to do it! Even better if it was my birthday weekend. Might see if I can persuade my twin brother too...
