I will be entering as soon as my pay hits the bank.
I have a score to settle with this race.
I may have pb'd this year by a whole 13 seconds (!!!) but I'd like to see what I do with out spending around ins in portaloos on route.
Think I'll try and avoid being rugs rated in Red Cross tent at finish too, lovely as they were

I'm thinking it would be sensible to sort out hotel as soon as I enter, to save on any last minute panic like I had previously at Chesterfield (where I was planning on driving in the morning, until their final details suddenly insisted on registration the previous day). Where is good, cheap and convenient for the race?

jda - there are plenty of the typical chain hotels around Salford Quays all within walking distance of the start at Old Trafford (Ibis, Premier Inn, Travelodge, Ramada, Holiday Inn Express, etc), but even now many of these don't appear to have rooms available for the Saturday night (i.e. the two closest Premier Inns) or seem to require a two night booking for that weekend (i.e. Ibis). There's also Hotel Football right next to the start, but I wouldn't class that as cheap.
Alternatively, look for somewhere in Manchester city centre, as Old Trafford is only 5-10mins away on the Metrolink (tram).
Whilst the race entry cost doesn't increase before the end of October, if you wait until then I suspect it will be a lot harder to find a good hotel deal by that time.

Sioux - I was going to suggest outside the city centre but still on tram routes, but after what happened this year I thought it best not to... for those of you who don't know, there was an incident on the Metrolink line between Altrincham and Old Trafford late on the Saturday afternoon that meant trams were suspended on this section all evening, and it was unclear whether they'd be running on the morning of the marathon, due to the emergency repairs needed. It worked out ok in the end as Metrolink announced at about 2am that trams would be running on this part of the line, but I'd gone to bed not knowing exactly how I was going to get to the start line!
My thinking is, at least if you stay in Manchester city centre there are other convenient options to the Metrolink if something similar happened again.

I've just noticed that my normal pre-Manchester half marathon at Wilmslow is the week before GMM next year, so isn't an option. Have any of the other locals tried the Oulton Park Half, also put on by the GMM organisers? All five Fetchies who are listed as having run this years race PB'd (http://www.fetcheveryone.com/viewracedetails.php?id=259624), but the only one to review the race rated the PB potential as 1/5!
