I am contemplating entering it. Want to have another go at a sub 4 and think Manchester probably works best for time and location. Only issue is there a couple of races that I usually enter that open for entries tomorrow which are more likely to sell out so may have to wait until next pay day for Manchester just before the prices go up.

Hi Nelly. You may be right as I was out running.

Running Chester on Sunday and went for 20 min spin to keep legs going. Done alot of training, loving running more than ever but am carrying extra half stone on March. Not going for PB.

Manchester mara is such a good event i am wondering if i might be able to do it. Will have to leave entry to last moment as trying my first ultra, 50km couple weeks before. Might not be in any shape to try it

Expecting my NO from London any day too

Mad for it!
I'm in.
Back for Manchester Marathon number three.
Sod London. Sod Brighton. Thanks Edinburgh but not on May Bank Holiday. Paris, well let's work on the wife a bit first ;-)
Booked into Lenny Henry's gaffe at Old Trafford for a long weekend of fun and frolics and PB glory

Now I can legitimately show myself on this thread having been watching it for a couple of months :-p

After spending the last few days searching for accommodation, I've finally booked a refundable room in the Holiday Inn MediacityUK, Salford Quays. They are considering offering a "Marathon Package" with a late checkout and use of shower, which I can upgrade to later if I want it. It's on the MetroLink tram route, and within walking distance of the start if there are transport problems.

I didn't go for the GMM "partner" Great Western hotel in Altrincham, since it includes breakfast which isn't served until 8am! Besides, what if there were transport difficulties? I remember Nelly's blog about going to bed the night before, knowing that the Altrincham Metrolink had been suspended (thankfully working by the morning, phew!)

Oh, and I've registered for the race as well, I thought that might be advisable since that is the reason why I've booked the hotel ;-).

PS, I'm not a London reject!

Welcome along Nicholls and Flatlander :-) J are you joining us again? Spanners well done at Chester, even if it wasn't the time you wanted, any marathon finish is an achievement; did I see you were deserting us next spring for Edinburgh instead???

I wouldn't recommend anyone uses the Cresta Court (Great Western in Alti), as they'll more than likely have either a wedding or a "Party-night" on the Saturday night when you're trying to sleep. And like you say, why introduce possible transport issues if you can get somewhere within walking distance of the race venue.

My run tonight includes the final mile of the marathon course, but I'm not expecting crowds at Old Trafford to congratulate me as I run past :-)

PS, I am a London reject ;-) (but I was going to run both if I'd been accepted)

Yes Nelly I'd like to have another pop at Manchester. In fact I'd like to repeat the early part of the year again - mind you I can't say my bod will come along :)

London reject here, been running a few years now but this will be my first full marathon. Started training properly this week. Any other recommendations for hotels?

Nelly I have decided to do canalathon 50km which is run from city centre to sower by bridge. It is two weeks before Manchester. I think it unlikely I will recover in time but may try latest of entries.

Bit gutted now as I am likely to miss this year. Edinburgh entered on Sunday night.

Hey Nelly, I'm also in for GMM #3, thought I'd keep up the biennial appearances after 2012 and 2014..

Spanners, I did canalathon last year and GMM afterwards also 2 weeks later and I got a half decent time, now I wouldn't say it was easy, week recovery to GMM would definitely be possible..
