Gus, you'll be pleased to know that GMM have just confirmed that the course will be identical (short ;-)) as last year, despite inferring previously they may tweak it slightly to avoid some previously congested areas.

Can't beat an officially measured and certified course that's short
Don't remember any congestion, where was that ?

Gus - I think I mentioned three areas to them; 1) the turn around the cone, 2) the (admittedly short) really narrow bit on the pedestrian area next to the canal in Sale where you head up to crossover the canal (about 7.4miles), and 3) (less so) the bit after the roundabout after Brooklands Road (about 10.3 miles) as you head into Timperley.

I seem to remember the area in Sale was made worse by water station location which if moved ten yards would have been better

Spanners, maybe my memory is playing tricks on me, but I thought this year they moved the water station onto Chapel Road before the pedestrianized area? The biggest issue for me, is the organisers have decided to send us up a narrow section of the pedestrianized area between the wall and the first line of bollards, instead of leaving it much more open and letting us avoid the bollards (having highlighted them with balloons or similar.

I had the dilemna at the finish this year of letting my garmin run for longer as I walked through finish funnel until it got to 26.2 miles or keep it with the time I crossed the line. Did the latter and strava didn't recognise it as a marathon PB. Hopefully it does still count as a PB despite that ;-).

Thanks for that Nelly, it's a good job I started my training early this morning :-). Seriously though, I did a 9 miles tempo run at 6am this morning. I'm old and take longer to recover so my marathon plan will be more like 20 weeks rather than 16 so that I can fit in the training without wrecking myself ;-).
