Great to see the organisers putting something back into local athletics in the borough that hosts the race athleticsweekly.com Sadly, even though I am a Trafford resident, I am neither under 18 or "talented" so don't meet the criteria The article also includes the following interesting fact:- VMLM has five times as many runners as Manchester, but it only has three times as many sub-three hours runners |

Hotel rooms are getting scarce, and expensive, if you want somewhere within walking distance ! Went for one that I could cancel and not have to pay anything, this time. Fingers crossed I won't need to make use of that feature ! |

You're right Gus. After a quick search, the cheapest room I could find for Saturday night within walking distance was £99 at Holiday Inn MediaCity, but quite a few of the hotels (e.g. Premier Inn Old Trafford, Holiday Inn Express Salford Quays & Hotel Football) seem to be sold out already! You can still get a cheap room at Premier Inn Manchester(Sale) for £53 (prepaid), and it is actually on the marathon route (@ about mile 19.5). But I'd ONLY recommend using this hotel if you're going to drive to the start, as there is no easy public transport links (i.e. it's 1.5miles from the nearest Metrolink stop). Nicholls - so your marathon programme starts on this Monday coming??? I plan to start an 18-week schedule on 7th December. |

Nelly - my programme starts week commencing Monday 2nd Nov (the day after the Dovedale Dash!) Its based on 3 runs a week for 24 weeks. Should be easier to stick to than the 16 week plans I have tried previously. Hoping to get to the start line in shape to go sub 4:30 |

Nicholls - I think you might want to re-count... there's only 23 weeks to race day from 2nd November. That said, "losing" a week from a programme that length shouldn't make any difference.

Nelly - Just checked my plan and I'm fine. As long as the government introduce an extra week in January. I had 2 x 24th Januarys! Ooops, slight re-adjustment required

Yep, the Holiday Inn at Mediacity is where I'm at. Could have got it for £90 if paid up front and nothing back if cancelled, thought £99 and cancelable was a safer option ! Almost went for the Best Western Altrincham one, but read your comments about it likely to be very noisy |

I'm in the Victoria warehouse hotel. It wasn't cheap at £150 for two nights but it seemed a good location!
