I think I've found where the 5000 runners idea came from: menmedia.co.uk

Luiz
I'm in :-). This will be my first marathon, and it passes my Mum's house at the 25 mile point so I expect my children and all my family to be on the doorstep to give me a boost for the last mile :-)

Umming and ahhing about this. If it's a one-off, I might do it. If not, I might leave it a few years. It doesn't help that a big chunk of it around Stretford is on one of my main training routes, and most of the rest of it I do semi-regularly either on bike rides or long runs. Hmmm.

I'm collecting some useful information on potential pooh stops - we've got Nelly's house and Luiz's mum's house so far. Any more offers?

Nelly
XB - you can also add "Nelly's Brother-In-Laws house (x2)" to your list. Admittedly, if you need to use both my house and BIL#1's house you're in for major problems, as they're within 1km of each other before halfway!
Also, as many have already suggested, there is the home of a certain football team very early in the route where I am sure many would be happy to empty their bowels!

Looks good to me. A local marathon for a Manchester Man. I can't see me being able to say no :-)

Nelly111 that's a good idea about a certain football team (if you can call them that) now I'm even more tempted to do it!

Regardless of your allegiance, I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to call them a football team? What with them being a team that plays football, and all.
