I've already coerced one person at work to run this as its on his doorstep and therefore he cannot refuse :)

Nothing wrong with a race making a profit, a lot of club ones do too
Seems reasonably priced to me, and its always good to see a new marathon

have to say, i dont really rate manchester city centre as "scenic " anyway

I'm pleased that there is another marathon in the North West and I've no problem with it being organised for profit by a commercial organisation. If they can make a success of it, they might organise more.

Now I just need to enter.

I think I'll probably still enter VLM for 2012 but I'll be there to cheer you all along.

but you are a bit mad ;-)

I think we should applaud the organisers - either that or trafford council are very runner friendly (to think of the campaigning that had to go on to get one in Liverpool). the course will enviably involve a lot of major road closures.

Well I'm in... given it will be running within 150m of my front door, and I wouldn't be able to go anywhere else because of road closures then it made sense.
The only problem will be if I get a place in the VLM ballot... maybe chase a PB at VLM with hopefully a victory lap at home a week later?!?
