Good to see another NW marathon even if the proposed route does look singularly uninspiring - will have another look nearer the time.
Normally you'd have to pay me to go that close to O*! T@&$!!*! but I agree the price looks about right for a city based marathon.

Most of it is indeed grim but it's lovely round Dunham

I used to live in Old Trafford ... it's not grim, you just have to foster an appreciation of red brick.
Not clear to me whether it starts in Longford Park or finished there?

Conversely, there'll probably be hardly any support out in Dunham and near Warburton, but plenty on that long stretch down Washway Rd from Stretford down to Sale, and then across to Northenden.

Naomi - thanks for being gentle with me. I've only entered 2 Marathons - London (which, as you say is cheap), and Chester (which I entered when I was drunk!)

No worries, it's not a very nice surprise for everyone when you realise how expensive most of them are. And many people start with VLM, it's not a bad place to start
Club maras tend to be cheaper (eg. the Cornish) but it costs a bomb to close roads etc etc.

I would only do this if there was more than a 50:50 chance to pee on the side of Old Trafford - football not cricket

Well, speaking of peeing on stadia - why do you think I'm doing the City of Manchester 10km next week?
