Maybe I was being a bit harsh, they did win the Premiership but not the FA cup, he he!

Bob!
Noticed this one yesterday, and Brighton are playing at Barnsley the day before. Good enough reason to visit the rainy city I suppose!

Got a message back from the organisers, the intention is for it to be a regular event, so I'll probably give it a miss next year. I might volunteer.

This looks interesting. I'm from Leeds but lived in Manchester for a few years (and work there now). So it'd be a great one to do considering I'm familiar with the area. I'd imagine it's pretty flat too.
Although looking at the route map it's not an area I know too well. And I'd agree that it's not the most inspiring route. Although I ran the Leeds 10K the other day and despite being from the city I have no idea where we went because I tend to zone out in races and only notice the road three feet in front of me!

Haha! I'm the same, people say "what a scenic race that was" and I go "was it?" Apparently this will be the flattest marathon in the world!!! I'm up for that

Different route I know, but I did Manchester (Piccadilly) Marathon in 1984 - really looking forward to this.

I'm not sure where or if the organisers have verified the claim that this will be "the flattest marathon in the world", but I given I live close to the only "hill" on the route elevation on the website, I can verify this "hill" is nothing of the sort. Obviously, I am biased because I live in the area, but I am a bit surprised by the number of comments regarding the uninspiring route? By definition, a city marathon will never have the views of say Windermere or Snowdon marathons etc, but this route has a few iconic buildings (Imperial War Museum, MUFC, etc), has local communities at the start and the end (that I suspect will offer good support to the runners) and a bit of country lanes in the middle, including Dunham Massey, when I find my focus is just to plod onto towards the 20 mile mark when the hard work begins, at which hopefully the crowds will return to the route.
