I really liked the Motionbased software and subscribed to it (cost about £50 I seem to recall - a mment of flushness/madness) - unfortunately the subs has lapsed (as has all my money - can't justify it at the mo) and I am unable to look at more than the last 10training runs on it :-)

I'm trying to suss our Sportstracks at the mo, but unable to look at the run on a map

JB, Sporttracks hooks into Google mapping for showing runs, much the same as the fetch route planner does. Do you need to set up the proxy server in Sporttracks or allow it to access the web in your firewall settings?

JB, I'm just getting to grips with Sporttracks software. To sre the run on a map or Google earth satellite make sure you are in daily activity view with the run you're interested in selected. You should have a route window on the bottom rhs of your screen. At the rhs of the header bar of this window there is a drop down arrow which when selected allows you to choose various options, 2 of which are street or satellite versions of your selected run.
The Sporttrack web site has good tutorial pages to get you under way

RT try running it completely flat before you charge it again - don't know if this will work with a Garmin but it's what I used to reccomend at work for mobile and cordless phones ! Worth a go before you send it back ?

A question about maps: how do I get an actual map to be on the map screen while I'm running? Do I download them from somewhere, at vast expense, or....?

It feels really weird to actually own one of these little miracles now. I've been playing with it all day, taking it for walks, adjusting data screens. Can't wait to try it for real on long run tomorrow!

you dont get an actual map on the 305 but you can do a route in fetch and download it to the 305 it will show as a single line with compass settings and will tell you if you go off course.
