Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Ahh, Nightjar, three of mine had blackened contacts and tehy all died eventually. Also mine had an interesting one where when the memory filled up to a point with sessions it saved over bits of memory it shouldn't and trashed itself.

Two of my units failed with the contacts problem AFTER Garmin swore they had got the software update that switched off the contacts and thus eliminated any sweat short out probs. Hence I STILL use tape just in case.

Oh and I delete the history regularly so it doesn't fill up too much.

Intersting that you were able to actually see some c or c++ code... ANd it still works??

Toby, yes. In Settings-Display you can set the back light timeout. I set mine to stay on, so can turn it on or off by pressing the power button,

I've (luckily) never had any problem with contacts corroding. Maybe it helps being really sweaty so that the sweat is less concentrated with minerals and salt!?!

I've been into the debug screen before by accident. And regularly cause it to have an 'abnormal termination' (from which it strangely recovers OK! LOL)

Chers flanker. I spent half the run last night pressing the light switch and half the time trying to catch up with the little man on the screen. Bugger beat me by 20 mtrs

I'm on my second 205 (the first died a week after the warranty ran out :( ). I wear it over a sweatband and have had no problems with the terminals.
Good article Ian :)

I race the little guy on all my races - if he's on a black background, I need to speed up - simple as that !
Flank if you can get some navigation stuff in the article that'd be good. I haven't used that facility yet.
