That and the inductive buttons making for a more waterproof case, and maybe better waterproofing to support diving properly. But none of those are a selling point for me. Apparently most of the software changes are built on a new codebase and won't be tricking down anywhere, according to DCR. |

Also not really any interesting new features or hardware either. Coming few days will let the people decide after its been tested a bit more, is the screen better now on MIP since the clarity is supposed to be better. And so on and so on Well one thing is certain, my watch is now worth less than half what i payed 2,5 years ago |

Probably the only thing of interest would be the increased solar charging performance. My little Anker charger will do though. I'm hoping there will be some v cheap 7X Saphires going now, in which case I might buy one to keep for when my 6 dies. |

The only thing I wish my 645 Music could do that the newer watches do is the multiband GPS. Other than that, I've no good reasons to upgrade. Maybe I don't know what I'm missing; my son has a 955 Solar and loves the mapping on that, but he bike-packs and runs stupid distances without overly planning things, so I can see what he gets out of a newer watch, but for me; meh!

Anyone else remember when a stopwatch (or even a wristwatch with a second hand) used to be enough? ๐คฃ๐๐

We've got a casio advocate at our club As a runner I was born into the GPS age so I can't undo that, and would like that bit to be as good as possible. But really, beyond that everything else is just gravy. |

I think I'm with you on that, @larkim. How far did I go? How long did it take? Then... How readable is the screen, how tough is the watch, how long will the battery last? |

I don't want to come across as a luddite - I love tech! And there are some "clever" bits on my watch that I wouldn't have had even when the first Fenix came along that I do use - e.g. the pacing app (Peters Pacing) for races, built in heart rate info, music (occasionally), wireless sync, app notifications from my phone, parkrun barcode (!), breadcrumb mapping / planning. But from the ยฃ189 watch that I have there's not a great VFM upgrade that I can do that I can justify from a cost/benefit angle. I could stretch to ยฃ250 for a multiband if the watch otherwise was identical to my existing one (and I'd have to be expecting ยฃ70 ebay value at least in my existing watch to contribute too!). |

I've never been tempted to go above the Garmin 2xx series (I started with the 220. Of course there's been features in the higher series that I liked (and have trickled down in recent models) but nothing that was worth the higher price.

I think that's where the sweetspot is for runners, definitely. The 6xx series is an oddity, as it isn't really (or at all) any better than the 2xx in terms of features; more aesthetics really I think.
