Try on the phone, settings - audio prompts - heart rate. Guessing that will be set to frequency: lap. Can also change that setting through Connect Mobile settings for the watch.

My phone sometimes announces lap splits out loud, and other times it doesn't - I've searched both watch settings and phone app settings before, and couldn't find any setting to do with a phone announcing anything. To my logical mind, it's very annoying that it appears to be random, as I know that something has been programmed somewhere to do it under certain circumstances.........

Agree, mine does this.

Have found it!
Thank you Badger :)

I guess the latest update turned it on, didn’t half make me jump when my thigh pocket started talking to me!

OtG - based on what Badger said to Linds above, I've changed a setting on the watch.

Settings - Audio Prompts - Lap Alert - Off ( was previously On )

I thought this was to do with the watch beeping when it displayed the lap split on the screen, but perhaps it's actually to do with the phone ?? But if it is this setting, then why does the phone only announce splits on some runs and not other ( Bluetooth always on, getting email notifications etc on the watch from the phone )

Will see if that makes a difference........

Yup that's the phone, the beeps/vibration are System>Sound and Vibe (at least on current generation, I think that's changed in the past

But if it is this setting, then why does the phone only announce splits on some runs and not other

For me that depends on phone settings, media volume if I remember rightly on Android. I quite often have that completely muted unless I've got Bluetooth headphones attached. Quite happy getting lap alerts through my headphones but I really don't like my running pack telling everyone in earshot how slowly I'm going!

Sigh
Well done! I think I'd need to be under medication to achieve that.

Mind you, I tried using the nap function the other day, and I even got a bollocking from Garmin for that:

My phone talks to me, too. It's telling me the splits, nothing else yet. That's mostly useful but it has some glitches.

My phone's system language is Finnish so I get all apps in Finnish if they have a translation. Garmin does, but with dodgy grammar. Instead of doing the normal "lap six, six fifteen" (km 6 done in 6:15), it randomly treats some lap times as dates. So I get something that doesn't even make sense as there is no 15th month in the year. I haven't found it yet why and when that happens. I can have three correct lap times and then I get the first date.

Tipsku, have you reported to Garmin? They are usual good at fixing things like that. By the way, are you on the latest version of Garmin Connect?
