I don’t think I’ve used fit files from RWGPS but they may well not work properly with some devices; I know from experience it’s a bit of a minefield to get the format right. Try one from plotaroute.com - the fit export library there is my work also (dll version of the software I linked to above) and it has been beta and field tested for years with no issues at all.

Are you sure you didn’t use a gpx rather than a tcx? The only reason I wrote that code and anybody wanted to use it was that Garmin stopped supporting tcx courses and gpx courses don’t properly support course points. I did try dropping a tcx in my Fenix 6 a while back on the off chance they’d put it back and nothing.

My HR is still a bit off on garmin. Half an hour post run it showed me at 43 bpm, not even close! I had doubled with my Fitbit, at the same time it was showing me at 72 bpm. I got old school and checked my carotid pulse, the fitbit was correct. Today the run data for HR does seem OK though. All very weird.

It's gradually catching up. All the steps I logged over the weekend and during the 'downtime' have suddenly appeared in my history when I assumed they were lost. My streak of 10k plus per day is intact, now at 591 days so I'm happy!

badger - do you have any reference to the differences between tracks and routes, and the various versions of each. Is a track just a course with many coordinates?

When I create a route am I actually creating a track or a course? And does it matter?

This is one of those things I've pondered over the years, come up with several possible answers, and never been bothered to look into properly!

Ta Gus

Which pretty much confirms that a track is a course with lots of "micro-waypoints" :-)
