My guess is that they didn't pay up.
We had a similar situation at work (and more recently one of our suppliers). The files were decrypted by a specialist anti-virus team at Microsoft. In that case, the ransom demand was per-folder. I think we ended up paying for a couple of folders-worth of data which was a fraction of the original demand.
