I've got all my activities over in Fetch so now I'm thinking that I will just delete them from my watch so that I don't get duplicates to deal with when (if!) Garmin comes back up. I don't use the data in Garmin Connect for anything useful so can anyone see any downsides from doing that?

They won't end up on Garmin.
Fetch, could you set up a rule (or something) to delete duplicates (same person, date, time and route)? It would not have to exist for ever. Just a month or two would do.

DT’s I had that I tried various things not sure which worked but I closed the application thing we had to download

Unplugged the USB then opened the application thing again plugged USB in and then connected Garmin

I also tried plugging in the USB with Garmin connected.

You have to make sure Garmin connect is closed / quit completely as it blocks it too. I got there in the end

I also had to create a folder to drag the files too as I couldn’t get them from the source file. (If copies then it doesn’t remove them)

Thanks SPR - what you wrote makes perfect sense now I re-read it.

My garmin isn’t being recognised when I plug it into my laptop. Message says ”The Last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and windows does not recognise it” :-(

Unplug the Garmin, reboot the pc and then plug it in again, wait, then look at File Explorer to see if it's appeared. Try another PC USB socket too.

Garmins and USB can be "interesting" and, depending on the PC setup, a plugged-in Garmin can stop it booting (temporarily, whilst it's plugged in).

Thanks Zen, I can do everything except try another PC so hopefully one of the others will work.

Is anyone employing the “just wait” method?

I was while I was away and had no access to my laptop although I have uploaded everything manually and if and when Garmin appears again I will delete duplicates. Might be like COVID and we may have to wait for a vaccine
