Lip Gloss
Just booked my holiday for September so enough time to lose ( at least 10lbs ) and tone up. Far better when there is an incentive.

@geordiegirl that sounds awful!

I’ve just had a skim through some of the relevant NICE guidelines. It talks about having a conversation with the patient about the risks and benefits of statins before starting someone on them. I remember a conversation about kidney (or was it liver?) function and how they check for that after 3 months, and that the muscle pain thing only applies to a small proportion of people. But I don’t remember any mention of increased blood glucose.

I looked at the guidelines on preventing diabetes….. it says not to stop statins because of raised BG. Seems they would rather add something to control the BG. But that makes no sense to me if the BG rise increases the risk by more than the statin reduces it.

There’s also something about an individualised programme and respecting patient preferences.

I’m still waiting for the call from the practice nurse to follow up how I’m getting on with the new medication which I’m not taking.

Welcome to Tring,WtnMel as it's my home town. How long are you here for?

Will catch up properly later or tomorrow ..

Snail - Tring is my home town too. Was born and brought up here but I moved away in 1979. My family still live here. I'm only here for one night - heading back to Cheltenham in the morning.

I did get myself a chicken & pasta meal and fruit for tonight and some porridge for the morning. So no beer, big dinner, naughty pudding and fry up in the morning this time. And I've just been for a brisk 4ml walk - those scales had better show a loss when i get on them! :)

Excellent work Mel! Hope your mum is ok too.

I do think before you’re put on stations it should be thoroughly checked they’re right for gou and you understand them. It’s too easy to send someone away with pills rather than lifestyle changes. My cousin had a gastric sleeve. She never really tried to lose weight. Never really wanted to be bothered with tracking and understanding nutrition. Post op she looks amazing and has made all the right changes to her diet that she needed to do before. Thankfully she’s healthy and sensible but I wish she’d tried without the surgery. A colleague has also had it done and she’s still very overweight and not at all well as she still eats all the wrong things.

While in my run I was pondering my hopes for scales news tomorrow and I think I need to set realistic hopes.

2 weeks ago tonight I started to not feel well, food for the following week was a bit hit and miss

Last Thursday after an awful day at work and knowing we were going away the next day we went to the local for tea (fish & chips)

Friday - Monday inc we ate out, mostly breakfast + one main meal.

Tuesday was step-nephews birthday so we were at theirs for buffet tea, jacket cheese and beans for lunch.

Last night was a steak night ok airfryer chips but garlic butter on mushrooms and shared a bottle of red.

Today I had my protein shake, crumpet & poached egg for breakfast, homemade broad bean soup and tea a massive stirfry packed with so much veg and a few noodles and a little bit of chicken. It feels good to be back to normal.

We normally go out for a walk and stop for a couple of drinks on a Thursday but we’re staying in. I think the weekend is catching up & im working tomorrow (🥲)

Evening everyone,

GG - it's boring eating by yourself in the restaurant, even though they don't keep me hanging around too much. But as DQ pointed out, with a meal deal, the temptation is to get your money's worth!

DQ - I think the only lighter options Beefeater do is probably the set meal option during the day, but that's only served until 5pm so doesn't work for me.

MM - staying the same is a result considering what's been going on the last few days.

LG - good news you are down 1lb. Hope the pain in your lower back can be sorted by the physio.

RevBG - you're doing well with the swimming and gym visit. Hope the blood glucose figures continue to improve.

I've recently signed up to take part in something called 'Our Future Health' and at some point, need to book an appointment to get my blood pressure checked and give a blood sample so they can check my cholesterol level (neither of which I have had checked for a long, long time).

I can sympathise with the boring in a restaurant by yourself I mostly opt for room service when I’m away with work. With travelling a lot with work I try to avoid eating in hotels as I prefer a meal out to be somewhere I want to eat and don’t want to eat out too often. Well done.

Hop on the scales and up 1/2lb not too bad considering my last post. Now to get some nice meals planned for the weekend and next week official weigh in is next Friday.

Focused vibes sent.

Much to my surprise, I'm 1.4kg (3lb) down this week. I thought I'd overindulged too much at the weekend for that to happen.

It looks like several people have things to deal with - practical or emotional - which make following your eating and exercise plans a challenge. Let’s not be too hard on ourselves, eh? We are still trying, not giving up and giving in.

I am up 0.6lb this week, but for reasons endlessly discussed last week, that’s nothing to be worried about. I am still down 4.2lb over 2 weeks and 7.2lb over 3.

Been to the gym this morning (though having spent some time writing up my workout notebook to prepare for the visit, I left it at home!) and will have some walking to do later. All adds up on the Apple Watch stats.
