Off to Tring again tomorrow to see my Mum (she's been discharged from hospital at last) which usually means a night in the 'purple palace' (Premier Inn) and dinner in the Beefeater next door. But it's impossible to be 'good' if eating in there. Am thinking I should buy a pasta salad or similar at Oxford Services and some porridge for the morning and save a few calories! :)

Agree with LG, be kind to yourself Moo.

Mel, it’s hard I travel with work and sometimes I buy a meal in rather than go out but it’s occasional and if you enjoy it then maybe have your steak but next day porridge would be better than the fry up and you’ve made some compromise and be more mindful other days?

We had steak, airfry chips, mushrooms and peas. Even if I say so myself I did a cracking job. Perfectly cooked steak to suit our preferences.

I wouldn't go near the scales MM, you have had enough to cope with. See what next week says xx
I don't know about you Mel but if I'm on a meal deal I tend to want to have my fill which is why I don't usually bother but take in my own breakfast. I think Beefeater should have lighter options if you do eat there in the evening?

Well after a week of no exercise and eating rubbish from the hospital and the most amazing bakers in Winchester and not having a proper meal, and drinking way too much gin (which was J's tipple) I have stayed the same so I will take that.

Back on it today

That’s a result MM. You were probably also living on adrenaline so that may have helped. Good luck with this week.

I’m down 1lb. Monthly measure is another 2 weeks yet but already I see my waist definition again. Different gym classes are definitely helping but I’m still in pain with my lower back so physio again on Tuesday. I feel that is restricting me a bit.

Morning all - basking in the warm glow of post-swim tiredness here, porridge consumed and mug of tea in hand. So far this week it’s been swim on Monday, gym on Tuesday, rest on Wednesday, swim Thursday and I intend to gym tomorrow.

Scale-wise: there was further rebound after last week’s long walk, though not all the way back to the day of the walk itself, and it’s now started to come down from the peak again. I expect tomorrow’s official weigh-in to show an increase compared to last Friday - but a decrease over 2 weeks and since the beginning.

Since some really bad numbers at my diabetes review a couple of weeks ago, I’ve been monitoring my blood glucose via a monitoring patch. I’ve gone from wild fluctuations with the majority of the time above the normal range and occasional excursions into it, to smaller fluctuations with roughly half the time in the normal range, and significantly further into it than ten days ago. Moving in the right direction, further to go.

Exercise helps. Reducing carb intake helps. Losing weight helps. Stopping the statin they put me on a year ago may or may not be helping…. I’ll have that conversation with the practice nurse when she rings me in the next week to see how I’m getting on with the prescription for an additional (third) diabetes medication she gave me…. which I have not started taking.
