Ours was a panel van and hubby converted it - he loved doing it and even if I do say so myself made a blooming good job of it.

I apologise if anyone thinks I'm trolling, I'm genuinely not.

No reflection on anyone's choice (as I said), I was hoping to understand why people are choosing to spend more money on a van that has fewer facilities, that's all.

Mine cost me 42k. But here's the difference - I was offered 34k for it the other day and that's after six years of ownership.

I'm not going to respond to Tommy's trolling directly, but I think that one of the reasons people buy VW vans is the same reason that they buy a Golf or a Polo when they could have a much cheaper (and inferior quality) Ford or Peugeot.

They certainly seem to hold their value well.

I think Tommy may like the "full facility" thing. For me, a shower and WC in the vehicle is just more bits requiring cleaning, maintenance and servicing and they force you into driving a longer-wheelbase and higher vehicle, limiting where you can take it.

Ours was no where near the price you are stating and we just love the van/quality etc and yes I had Golfs before

Synge - for me, a shower and WC in the vehicle is essential - we're all different. It also means we can go places where campervans can't because we don't need 'facilities'. Pros and cons whichever you have.
