AC, I can't say we've ever felt that we've been limited in any way in our (just) sub 6.5m PVC. Driven it and parked it without issue wherever we've been, in the UK and abroad.
But that extra length gives us a fixed bed, toilet and shower - all of which were on our "must have" list as we use our van, basically, as a base camp.

(cont...) and don't want to be tied to campsite facilities.

Thanks Tommy, those considerations are on the long list. Personally I’ve always preferred a short walk with an entrenching tool, but it doesn’t suit everyone ( and isn’t always socially responsible ).

I would love a mini-motorhome, something like a Romahome maybe?
Parked next to one (T-reg) a couple of days ago. The occupants must have been at least 80, so if they can stay in one, it must be cosy enough for me.
(I can manage quite well in my tent without using shared facilities if necessary ( TMI - bog-in-a-bag if need be), so don't really need a motorhome - but quite fancy one anyway)

We went for a Bongo, its so reliable (touching wood) much better value than a VW, without the character perhaps.
However, we added a touch of character, as we found it a bit dull.

I thought the Friendee Bongos were just day-vans?
