Is Skye not worth visiting then? (We were planning to go in September)

You might be ok in Sept SarahWoo. Skye is absolutely stunning but that brings many visitors and some are inconsiderate.

Skye is one of the most magnificent places on the planet. Best to try and go off season though. What HP said.

I have unfinished business with Skye. We were only there 2 days and it bucketed down with rain the whole time.

We are going again in September, staying in Broadford. It's a good time to go

I don’t think I can face going back to Skye. I’m utterly heartbroken.

A real shame about Skye Don’t know what to say really, and don’t know what the answer is. We went mid-September one year and we did enjoy it and it wasn’t too busy at all for us (having nothing to compare it to), but we saw pics and reports of how busy it was around mid-Aug the year we went and it looked crazy. Is it vans that are the main issue, or is it the tourist busses, or both?
I took my van into my local independent place here in Devon on Thursday to fix the canopy on the van, and he was saying he’s stupidly busy all year around still, since Covid. He used to have peaks and troughs through the year and used to have time to MOT and service regular cars, but now he is fully booked out with vans and MoHos all year, and he was saying that from his point of view it doesn’t look to be easing anytime soon.

I found cars the main issue. There were so many and they refused to use a passing place to let you pass. They should drive the single track roads at 25mph, even when you could see ahead. Then just stop and block the road to take photos.
Parking was the next challenge in places. Storr car park was crazy and they don't let campervans of any size in. You have to try to find somewhere out on the lay-by on road.
Then when you got where you were going the crowd were unbearable. It was just a steady stream of folk walking up storr.
Broadford was very busy with through traffic, but apart from at the coop no one really stopped there. We had a lovely walk down the coast and through a forest and passed just 2 locals https://www.fetcheveryone.com/routes-view.php?id=1853754. Had a drink in a beer garden and no one else there. The campsite was quite spacious. Was nice having that escape from it all.
However, the views were stunning. Also, go see Flora McDonald's grave. There was no one else there.
The irony of me being a tourist complaining about tourists is not lost on me. It wasn't all bad though, it just took me by surprise.
