I'm not experienced enough with USB C links or going off grid, Helegant. We talk about doing more of it but rarely have tried more than one night at a time.

Has anyone stayed at the service station at J1 (Rugby) of the M6? I wondered about it as an overnight stopover.

No, but stories I hear of service stations is that you’re disturbed by the lorries all night As for the power issue - I splashed out on a power bank with portable solar panels - partly as emergency back up in the house last winter- which we didn’t need - but this weather I charge it with the sun and use to keep phones and tablet topped up. bluettipower.co.uk SeverL makes and battery capacities available, something smaller might be suitable |

It was Lairhillock Touring Park, Mandymoo. EHU and hardstanding for £25 a night. Basic toilet facilities (in a portacabin) but clean enough and it was fine for our short stay. I wouldn't go there for a holiday though...

I splashed out on a power bank with portable solar panels We already have the solar panel on the van - my issue has been finding a way to get the power from the leisure battery, or even the engine battery, into the laptop at the right voltage. The guy in the computer shop suggested charging a powerbank from the leisure battery then using the powerbank to charge the laptop overnight. Just wondered who else had tried it. |

We save the leisure battery for van things - pumps, lights etc and have the powerbank for the nice to haves. A simple pure sine wave inverter should work.

Thanks. That's what has been waved in my face today from the garage - it may be the simplest solution after all.

Lairhillock is very local to this Fetchie, GM Shame you didn’t have more time. MM is staying there for a night in September.
