Looks lovely Just back from a couple of nights at the Sandringham CCC site, still learning how everything works and how to organise ourselves. Off the Brownhills again at the end of the week for them to have another go at stopping the tiny oil drips and fix a couple of other issues we found - other than that it’s fab though |

I’m glad you are enjoying your van, Rosehip. What was Sandringham like? It’s on our list of places to visit.

Big, busy, but spotlessly clean. Not impressed by their lack of recycling facilities and ended up bringing home anything that would go in our recycling bin We drove out to Hunstanton yesterday and then Titchwell RSPB (fab beach) , to see how we got on finding parking etc - didn’t do much walking from site. |

The ability to walk in the forest and parkland around the site was lovely but it was too busy for me (and quite expensive). I’m sure there are pitches where you aren’t overlooked on all sides but ours wasn’t one of them. I think I’ve been spoilt by quiet CLs!

Just sorting out one of our next trips and saw that the Caravan and Motorhome Club has 50% discount on ferries to Isle of Wight, on the Lymington to Yarmouth route, using Wightlink. Initially dubious, I checked directly, and indeed it is a true discount. We’ve also had genuine deals from the club using P&O (to Northern Ireland) and DFDS (to France), too. Probably not news to many but I just thought I’d mention it as we’ve had a lot of use out of the club anyway in terms of the CLs that we really like and for us, with the ferry and other discounts we’ve had, the membership has probably paid for itself about 10 times over! |

Thanks Big_G. May investigate IOW, as we're quite close to Lymington For over 60s there is a discount on some DFDS sailings between Newhaven and Dieppe, but you have to ring them to book. |

I’d prefer small sites like CSs and CLs, but booking last minute it’s so much easier to find availability online rather than phoning around lots of places. I got the CL booking app, and then found all it does is send an email to the site - that may or may not be answered. I guess the answer is not to be last minute - but until Husband retires and stops having random working week patterns, that’s not going to happen for most short breaks. |
