Have just found a somewhat tenuous link with Terry: got to the point in A Life In Footnotes where Terry attends the crash between a train and a nuclear fuel flask in 1984. I spent 1982-1984 creating mathematical models of that fuel flask and performing thermal analyses on it (basically checking that in the event of a fire, the internal temperature would not rise to the extent the the pressure would blow the lid off!)

Really enjoyed reading A Life In Footnotes. I now want to re-read everything Pratchett.
Starting with Nation.

I know this is the Feegles thread but can I recommend Pratchett's two sci-fi books? Strata and Dark Side of the Sun? Pratchett humour, but in space and with some great concepts and satirical themes. :-) G

I have been doing my first ever read of Terry Pratchett. Don't know why I had never got round to him, but I'm going through Disk World in order now. That's after not reading much through lockdown, so he's my way back into reading. Favourites so far is anything where DEATH FEATURES IN THE STORY, or witches. I really like witches, it's like having my mum in the story. :-)
