No, not really - that's the Seathwaite route. From Langdale you can do it a couple of ways, my favourite is via The Band and then Bowfell, Esk Pike and then join the highway to Scafell Pike. Easy to take in Great End, Ill Crag and Broad Crag too.

Nice to go up from Cockley Beck via Little Stand onto the Crinkles, then pick up NE’s route and follow the horseshoe round as far as Slight Side and come back down Moasdale. Good BG training day

Was at the Joss Naylor Lakeland Challenge dinner at the weekend near Santon Bridge, so took the opportunity to knock off a few more tops. Did Whin Rigg, Illgill Head and Green Crag so have 9 Wainwrights left on our second "accompanied" round, also bagged Irton Pike (which has no classification) and Boat How while we were there. On the previous day we were finally knocked off the Birketts around Green Crag, so that's Great Worm Crag, White How, Crook Crag, Great Whinscale (tricky), Broad Crag and Great Crag. Meant to do Kepple Crag too, but failing light and the lack of a headtorch meant we had to beat a hasty retreat. Just 88 Birketts left :-)

Really good thanks, increased numbers of course due to cancellation of last year's dinner. We went for a wobble around next morning Santon Bridge next with the great man himself, always a privilege :-)

Is anyone doing the Langdale marathon/half marathon? I've got a place in the half, but this will be my first time doing this race. Having looked at the course on OS map, something tells me I won't be on for a PB 😂

You're probably right, sd - I did the mara in 2019 and logged 3,200 feet of ascent on the two laps. It's a nice event.

If you are driving there, leave plenty of time as car parking arrangements can create a bit of a bottleneck before the start.
