First time = course best by definition doesn't it? Enjoy it and take the opportunity to look over your shoulder occasionally - some of the views behind are at least as good as those in front. |

Thanks Synge - great blog 🙂 My PB marathon (many moons ago) is Windermere, but although a lovely route the traffic on the road to Bowness was awful so I wouldn't want to do that course again. Thanks for the heads up on the parking - definitely worth knowing!

We had a nice run in the lakes today. Parked near Howtown, ran up Martindale to the accompaniment of roaring red deer stags, then over to Angle Tarn. To Boredale Hause, Place Fell, down to Sandwick and back to the car. Then fish and chips in Keswick. The steep and slick grassy descent to Sandwick convincingly demonstrated that the soles of my X-Talons are past their best. Weather was mostly good, with some surprise sunshine, and very little rain. |

Sounds great Jacdaw. Nice area. I ended up landing on my arse today as my shoes had no grip too. Unfortunately I was delivering someone's groceries at the time, and they went flying all over. How inov-8 ever sold the old terrocs as trail/fell shoes is beyond me. They're lethal on anything smooth and damp (especially slimy paving slabs!) |

I entered the May 2022 edition of The Lap last night. 47 miles around Windermere in 24 hours. I'm planning to walk it with my younger daughter (who is emphatically not a runner). Now to re-read Gromit's blogs ... |
