Old rope. Some people don't know how to get into these things and like to be given the way. I guess it may have a social aspect to it?

Compared to the Spine Sprint it's great value. £100 for 43 miles
"There is very little hand-holding on this race. We expect you to travel with a degree of self-sufficiency and skill which sets this race apart from others."
i.e. it's a 100 quid to run along a national trail and get a t-shirt, and no other race would have the cheek.

I’ll be launching my Spine Swindle soon - that’ll make the Sprint look great value

I was thinking of a Dragons Back race here in the Black Mountains... £25 for a track download of the route... Bargain, innit?

What’s Scafell Pike like as a walk in decent weather? Probably from Wasdale.
The only English hill I’ve ever been up was Helvellyn from striding edge, but we went with someone.
Reasonably hill fit & a Munro compleatist.

Easy-peasy , especially if you've previously done the Munros. You may be disappointed by the large number of other pilgrims on your path.
You may find it more of an adventure to go from Seathwaite or Langdale. Quite a nice route from Eskdale too.

I’m with NE. On a good day it’ll be busy for sure. Go to Wasdale but do the Mosedale horseshoe instead. Or go up Sca Fell and over to Slight Side
