Scafell from Langdale any day... Especially when thick fog repels grockles and asks for brushing up map, compass and back bearing taking skills... Shame about the view, but very rewarding as an adventure...

Corbetts - now there's a challenge. I'm hoping to grab some in the next few days. I've often heard it said that a lot of the Corbetts are infinitely better mountain experiences than a lot of the Munros.

They’re quiet & you don’t often get multiples. Places like Ardnamurchan where there’s quite a few are fantastic.

The Scafells from Eskdale is one of my favourite Lakeland walks. Even on a busy summer day it's really quiet until you get close to the top. Out of season you can be by yourself.

Coincidentally we climbed Scafell Pike from Wasdale Head today, going up by Lingmell Gill. Admittedly we were in cloud before we got to 1,000 feet, but, regardless of that, it is not my favourite route. It probably combines the shortest distance and the most continuous climb, so you can reach the summit quickly, but it’s not a patch on any route that goes via Esk Hause and beneath Great End.

We went up that path before breaking off to go up Scafell, via Lords Rake. It was a proper trudge.
Is the Langdale route the one that takes you past Styhead Tarn? That was 100x more interesting.
