You mean his big accident? I guess that was one adventure he could have done without.

No, I didn’t know about him until this morning. I was thinking what he does are genuine adventures not just the same ‘challenges’

They are DT though maybe that's because he's already knocked off all the 'same challenges' in fine style (e.g. previous winter records for both Ramsay and Paddy, missed the then Joss record by a minute). Tom is a really interesting character with a real zest for adventure, exploring the mountains with him both in the UK and around his place in the Costa Blanca mountains is always great fun. Though it can lead to you learning more about your own nerve and ability to descend near vertical rock and scree than you might wish to know! 😉 I believe NE has widened that knowledge to high speed bike descents as well...

I do know Tom - I hadn’t checked who he was. I even knew about this latest outing because Stef told me. Not with it today ;-)

Tom’s recovery after his bike crash was an inspiration for me recovering from my set back a couple of years ago. I’ve absolutely no doubt being even averagely fit helps get over accident, or surgery. It’s not coincidence I was told to walk up stairs or hills as prep before my first op, and between that and my second

Back on topic I’m going to have a go at the JNC next spring. There, I’ve said it

DT - didn't you and I meet Tom one cold winter day on top of Blencathra? I recall he'd climbed up there to show me his version of the Parachute descent.
