If there isn't space to park, well unlucky. Find an alternative or go elsewhere. Too many people think they have the right to do things like that these days and it really winds me up.
Stupid, self-entitled, selfish cretins.

ff, agreed, if that was the case - I wasn't sure how "in the village" it was. I was mainluy responding generally to R's comments about sleeping in laybys.
If you're parked in front of someone's house then it's a different scenario ... and you should expect to get rolled off the car in the middle of the night

I think that lay by is the other side of the footbridge to Keswick. Quite often see campervans there.

Didn't the council ban overnight parking in that particular lay-by last year?

Possibly, was it the same time they banned cycling over the bridge?

Don't know. I didn't actually know that cycling was banned over the bridge .... I've only ever ran over it

Wonder if they were on the village side of the bridge? Could be the turning circle which is all double yellows?

I don't think it's the Keswick side of the bridge. Could be the turning circle or there is at least one lay by in the village, just before the marina as you head towards Stair.

And yes NE they outlawed overnight parking down the stretch of road on the Keswick side at the beginning of last year (there isn't really a layby the campers and mohos just used to park down one side of the road) and certainly last year I understood they were pretty hot on enforcing it.

The bridge has had a "cyclists dismount" sign for many years.
