LOL. I really wish people would stick to the "take away what you bring"...there aren't enough bins to handle what everyone brings...especially if the area is inundated with people.

A few thoughts from a LD National Park resident... it’s very nice to not have coaches on the roads. Coaches on the Kirkstone Pass terrify me. We’re having a year off from that trauma. Understandably the buses are nearly empty, but that’s contributing to the parking problems. I’ve seen lots of irresponsible parking ..and these vehicles must be owned by hillwalkers...nobody would chose to stop at these places unless they were off to enjoy the high fells. |

Having said that...leaving litter/ chucking it out your car window ...I totally fail to understand that. These people came in a car...they aren’t lugging kit home on public transport. And there’s a massive ignorance about ‘Wild Camping’

Flanker sleeping in an out of the way lay-by is one thing but in the middle of a village?(which is how I read that story). I sleep in my van in lay-bys but I'll only use ones that are well away from habitation. There are plenty of suitable places without parking in front of people's houses. Talking of parking in the Lakes this was a tweet from the Police about parking on the A66 at Scales this weekend <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">These vehicles were located unattended parked on the <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/A66?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#A66</a> at scales below <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Blencathra?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Blencathra</a>. They have caused motorists to contravene the double solid white lines. Fines and 3 penalty points are being sent to the keepers for leaving a vehicle in a dangerous position <a href="https://twitter.com/CumbriaRoadsPol?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@CumbriaRoadsPol</a> <a href="https://t.co/4Hsfu153oO">pic.twitter.com/4Hsfu153oO</a></p>— Eden Police (@EdenPolice) <a href="https://twitter.com/EdenPolice/status/1294662501305667589?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">August 15, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |

I took mum for a drive over Kirkstone because it occured to me I wouldn't meet a coach - unfortunately (or maybe not) it was so claggy, she didn't get to see the view. I'm sure I saw something about one of the bus routes having been cancelled because of behaviour issues - but can't find it now |

That’s the problem I’ve seen regularly at Cowbridge car park and Patterdale..’forcing motorists to contravene the double solid white lines’

some of the answers to that moaning that what else could they do, there isn't a car park.... are scary. If a car park was made at the start and finish of every walk idea ever published AW/Trail Mag/ Country walking - etc etc etc then there's be very little else left! There is a bus ffs! if you can't get up in time to get a spot, go to Kewick and catch the X5 |
