I think you may be right DT :(

I was "heartbroken" when I went to get my 30(+) yr old backpacking tent from the loft and found that wasps had made a nest from it. Can't imagine leaving a tent behind

I’m still using the tent I bought in 1992. Though not very often, and it probably needs rep roofing!

My sister still has the 1970s frame tnet that dad bought 2nd hand for family camping trips. Before that we had a proper scout ridge tent from ca 195x. My backpacking tent was considered a modern miracle because it weight only about 5lb.
Current meanddog tent weighs 2kg and hope it will last me until I'm too old to sleep on a thin matress.

Oh crikey. I hope it’s quietened down before I head up there for a few days in September. :-(

I think this situation just highlights the need to keep away from honeypots at prime time. Sadly a good chunk of this summer has been prime, because folk can’t get to Ibiza or Benidorm

I lived three miles from Bolton Abbey for over ten years but wouldn’t have dreamt of going anywhere near on a BH weekend or during a long stretch of good weather (well not after breakfast time, or before tea)

Yeah, frankly we’ve been avoiding almost everywhere at weekends - even the local forest. I’ll be heading to the Lakes mid-week when the schools have (hopefully!) gone back.

Large swathes of the High Peak in particularly aren’t ever going to be as busy as Langdale, Patterdale or Wasdale
