I'm starting to think that the likes of Go Outdoors are to blame as well - endless adverts for very cheap (pretty rubbish) tents and giving the impression that camping is fun and easy and readily available when the realisty is people get fed up with insects and walking to the loo - IF they can get on a site. And all the sites are pretty much fully booked until the middle of Sept.

Yes, or those popup tents...quick to set up, maddening to fold back up again. I wonder how many of those are jettisoned due to frustration when trying to collapse them.

I used a campsite over the weekend that had a large silo specifically for dumping tents, chairs, walking poles etc.

Care for the environment, social responsibility, recycling, and avoiding single use plastics, not to mention being decent human beings, seem to be some of the longer-lasting casualties of the pandemic. All of a sudden the masses seem to be reverting to type - basically me-me-me - and looking after each other and the environment is no longer trendy.

Sad times.

:(
It all looked like it was starting so well, with kindness - and then went downhill very quickly

Blimey NE never seen that! I think I'd have been doing some recycling! I know I'm tight but I really can't get my head around throwing stuff away until it doesn't work anymore?

Throwing stuff away like this is shocking. The irony is I suspect this mentality started at the likes of Glastonbury
