Oh I don’t know - I’d put in the case for the D&G: I’ve tripped up the step and cracked my head in there. (And fallen off my stool, but that’s a common occurrence)

Joking apart, I always (and I have been in a few times) found the Loft a pretty friendly place. I’ve not been in for quite a few years but it didn’t strike me as a typical ‘market town disco’
A group of us had a brilliant Friday night in there when there was an ABBA tribute act on maybe ten years ago

Always found it a friendly place too DT. Had many good nights in there in the past (many of them a frighteningly long time ago) and a good few stories could be told!

I've never been to the pub in Kendal or Keswick.
Or ambleside or Windermere or Grasmere.
I've been to every pub in coniston though
And a very dodgy place in Flookborough

That Pub in Ambleside which puts the Carlisle United/England on the opposite wall during matches is well dodgy.

Sounds like you’d be better off having a trot round the Fairfield Horseshoe instead

Lake District pubs ... quite a few beers in the Dungeon Ghyll, found The Bank Tavern in Keswick quite good, and had a few meals in The Badger at Rothay. Not sure I've tried, or been tempted by any of the Ambleside pubs.

The Golden Rule is an old style local pub, or was when I last went, and does a good range of local beer.
