I always think that people make the descent off Catbells a bigger deal than it deserves. To the the east of the summit plateau are some nice grassy ramps and you can get down to the saddle pretty quickly. Steep though, so decent studs are essential. Once at the saddle you zip down the TWA/AW descent to the W or if you're being naughty and on an FGR attempt you can go E around the erosion control barriers and across the road to the Old Brandlehow Estate.

Spot on, NE.

And an equally great sentence from KinkyS. :-)

Thinking about it, I remember falling off the kerb walking back into town after going up Catbells last year. NEVER LET YOUR GUARD DOWN!

I've been known to trip over my feet walking downstairs at home - maybe I should stick to run-walking the flatlands

Even the Americans are appallled at "brits" behaviour this summer

I think the Americans should look a bit closer to home before making comment on others ;-)

Perhaps there isn't a sufficient number of guns in the headline photo to placate their sense of superiority?

DT the Loft is the most dangerous terrain in the Lakes! Let your guard down in there and your history. So a friend told me ;-)
