Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Wonder if they are data entry issues eg a decimal point in the wrong place.

Surely there should be some analysis of variances between amounts and investigate where there’s an increase of 200x time the original amount

It's rubbish at so many levels. As you say - validation of data when inputting and detection of abnormal amounts at billing time would have caught these. Very poor either way.

Another "Octoplus" energy saving hour today, from 5 to 6. These are coming round regularly now, and the weather's not particularly cold. Makes me worry if all is good with the grid ...

Ofgem energy price cap forecast to fall by 14% in April

So I might have dropped a bit of a clanger by fixing. If the price drops actually do occur. Oh well. You win some you lose some.

The move down in gas prices over the last 2 months has been pretty large. Would have been seen as a huge market correction in the past but of course the events of late 2022 really altered the price scale so you don’t see clearly in charts like this.

Are we all the way down though? I doubt it, the issues in the Red Sea are still providing support.

Bills still may not get down to historical levels though. The consumer still needs to pay for the reckless unhedged approach of muppets like Bulb.

Interesting that inflation has almost paralleled that (slightly behind). Cost of goods = cost of fuel, largely? :-) G

We’ve had word from our energy company that our direct debit from April onwards will be double the current amount. How’s everyone else fared?
