Well the cost of fuel certainly has far-reaching effects. But prices other than fuel aren’t going down, lower inflation just means they are rising less rapidly.

Holiday periods always see a big reduction in gas demand but this warm and windy weather means that demand across Europe has been very low of late. The chart shows the level of gas held in store across Europe to be at near record levels. It seems to me that there’s only going to be even more pressure on prices when the traders get back in front of their screens in the New Year.

Thats my monthly readings done and bills in and a further dent in the credit. It should be down to a reasonable level after the winter is over
I checked back to last December and the cost has been quite a bit less which is good. Although I know it is wrong, I am quite happy I had that credit there as a cushion when the prices were going haywire.

First year in the new house put in 1,500 litres of heating oil in August then topped up 800 litres in early Jan.
Replaced the rickety old boiler in December.
This year we put in 800 litres in August and it's lasted until now. Just topped up with 800 litres.

I realised yesterday that Shell haven't advised me of my new tariff from 1st January. I checked on their website and there's no end date listed for my current tariff. I assume that's because the transfer to Octopus is in process.

Interesting Ronnie. Though if my boiler failed I'd have to replace it with electric. Big saving just with a more modern and efficient boiler though. G

We tried electric, but the guy from fischer said we'd need to upgrade to 3 phase electricity.

In total from August 2022 to August 2023 we used 3,100 litres. Changed the boiler half way through the year.
From January 2023 to now we used 2,400 litres.
