Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I fixed recently with Octopus. For someone on a low income with a lot of financial pressures, certainty is more important than gambling what might happen. I also don’t have the time or mental bandwidth to follow what the energy supply market is doing or not doing.

Totally with you Fields. I worked in energy trading for 25 years and so following the markets still comes fairly naturally to me. For many price security is paramount and locking in is the right thing to do. Same for mortgages…where an expenditure is big (and energy bills are now) it’s important to have certainty in many cases.

I must say that I believe that Fozzy is making a very valid point. In this high interest rate environment we shouldn’t really be giving our money to others for free. Shame he’ll never see me agree with him. Meow!

I apologise fozzy. In that case a post of mine got caught in the cross fire of another debate - you must have been blocking someone else and I got the wrong end of the stick.

Can you imagine a DD for £39,000 appearing in your bank account?! :-O Good news is that it would fail for most of us. A bit of a daft billing error and a funny story but not actually a problem for the end customer. Boo EDF! :-) G

lol. I have a spare £39k in my account just in case. I did wonder if it was a smart meter error that caused it but doesn’t say.

Something extreme as that will obviously fail or be rejected by the bank, but how many other wrong increases that are not so drastic, but maybe "just" a few hundered more than they should be, go through unnoticed by those that don't closely monitor their bank account......

We’ve had word from our energy company that our direct debit from April onwards will be double the current amount. How’s everyone else fared?
