Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Thanks all ~ to be honest, despite the massive amount he's left me/us to deal with, it's a huge relief. Not just that he's no longer having to deal with is frailties, but also that he was getting harder and harder to be around ...

And, importantly, his 'favourites' actually seem to now be coming round to and accepting that he was very different with them than with us ~ so much of the bad feeling within the family >might< actually dissipate now. Though I'll not be holding my breath ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hugs to all, and ... be kind to yourselves ๐Ÿ˜€

My condolences, @decorum. I'm coming to the conclusion that no matter the circumstances it's an "educational" time for those who remain. I hope things do go the way you hope.

Yesterday (was it only yesterday?) we saw the Registrar, collected a Death Certificate, visited the Funeral Director and arranged a time and date for the funeral! We were completely thrown when he offered us the 23rd December! But we can't all do that day so we're on with the 30th instead.

Last night we drove home, and today we've been trying to get set up for Christmas and arrange a coordinated return to the Island with everyone!

I thought I'd start a thread, as lots of us have elderly folks that we worry about/care for.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
