That's quick 3M. Good to have a date sorted.

I'm not surprised it's a relief decorum. I really don't know how you put up with his behaviour. I hope that there is some reconciliation with the wider family.

When you have someone, a relative, on end of life care, in a private room at a hospital, it seems odd to me that people just turn up to visit and you have no idea who they are. Doesn't quite seem right to me, especially as they seem to be unaccompanied. (ie just rock up and ask to see the guy and go and sit in the room). I assumed they would ask the relatives.

Someone has obviously told the visitors that the person is there No.12 so I would assume they aren't strangers to the person in the hospital bed but people who have a good reason for visiting.

I would expect and hope so. it just seems odd that a load of people from his church would even want to see him in that sort of state.

No.12, people from my parents' church were very caring & supportive in the last days, they chatted, read from the bible, prayed & sang, even when there was no response.

decorum
Hugs to all. And thank you's, too.

People, here, seem to be queueing up to be funeralised ~ as A.P wanted, he's having an unattended 'doings' and will be available to visit until 07 January. Had he wished for an attended funeral he might have been hanging around until February ... 😮

We've got to go through probate and his favourites are champing at the bit to come help sort stuff ~ he had Pack Rat tendencies, and they want to feel as though they're doing something, which is appreciated, but they've not quite grasped what probate actually requires ... and that's a pain! 😉 .

Ho hum, the reality is that there are plenty of folk in the world who are in a far more uncomfortable position!

I thought I'd start a thread, as lots of us have elderly folks that we worry about/care for.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
