That sounds tough for you and her. I hope the best outcome for you both arrives with minimal suffering.

Thanks for asking. She called for her results but the dr hadn't reviewed them yet. Will call again today.

Low sodium apparently. Dr thinks it could be her medication. Is calling tomorrow to discuss.

Had a call from my nephew (who sleeps at mum's for her reassurance) at 10:45 last night that mum had fallen. Fortunately we only live 5 minutes away so I went round and he helped me lift her up. She seems OK and was able to complete getting ready for bed, but it illustrates her reducing capabilities. Mentally she's still all there which makes it very difficult for her as she observes her physical decline :(

About This Thread

I thought I'd start a thread, as lots of us have elderly folks that we worry about/care for.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
