Hugs Lizzie

Spoken to mum tonight, she’s had a rough couple of weeks with the cat.

Took him to the vet yesterday and ended up on the floor. She struggled but managed to get up by using the cat’s box as a prop to get up. She’s now got bruised ribs.

Seeing her Sunday for her birthday

Apparently it was their mat which according to the hand measurements she kept showing on facetime was a good 2" high
Which seems very unlikely?

I'm hoping it will make her realise how fragile she is and finally get that alarm I've said about

Yep
Which I find highly unlikely

Shops and public places are unlikely to have raised mats for exactly the reason that they don’t want accidents

That does sound odd. Hope she's OK, Pix.

I thought I'd start a thread, as lots of us have elderly folks that we worry about/care for.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
