The Great Midlands Fun Run but only because I've done it so many times.

It's perhaps unfair to mention this since it's a freebie (and also not a race), but I found doing the same lap 5 times at the Highbury Fields parkrun somewhat tedious. Especially since much of each lap is arguably pavement rather than park.

Son of a Pronator Man
I think I once ran a 10k that was 2 5k laps of a closed retail park in Clydebank. I have blanked the details.

+1 for London. Takes you through the rubbish areas when you're feeling good, and the interesting bits when you're not really 'with it'
Glad that the Royal Parks Half runs parts of the Marathon finish so you get a chance to take it all in.

Spleen
Not done it myself, but I've been told the Tewkesbury Half is extremely dull. Full of long straight A/B roads that go on forever and ever, the sort where you look up and you don't seem to have got any further along.
The dullest race I've done is the Taunton Half. It wasn't bad, I wouldn't even put anyone off doing it if they're, you know, around the area and want to do a half. It's just pretty forgettable. You run through a bit of Taunton, then out, then it's all a long winding A-road through farmland, then you arrive back at SCAT. (That's the Somerset College of Arts and Technology, stop sniggering at the back.) And then, if you entered the full marathon, you do it all again. Christ knows why you'd want to.

Those 'endurance' runs where you spend 24 hours running round and round and round and round and round an athletics track... WTF...?

Spleen
Actually, I should say that the Taunton Half isn't the dullest I've done. The dullest is the Bridge Inn 5k which goes up some wretched A-road on the outskirts of Bristol and then back again. On a freezing winter's night. I got a stitch.

They could make Luton more interesting in one of two ways. Either include Sundon hills or Sharpenhoe Clappers on the route (a bit of 16% hill action), or send it into the Marsh Road area and see how many people come out alive again.

They could make Luton itself more interesting by re-routing HS2 through it.
