I went to the Co-op and bought, among other things, a newt-to-me cake. Purple velvet. If it's rank I'll blame this thread for encouraging me to seek out novelty ;)

Also saw a newt lowest weight for the year when I stood on the scales this morning to see the effect of over a week of parental fare (including many pies and escalating quantities of chips and domestic measures of whisky). That's an incidental newt, but since my first race of the year may be only four weeks away the timing is good.

Loving that post WA :)

Good shopping, Linds :) I need some booties and a hat for OW seeing as we can start again next month - I've just spent my kit allowance on a skort, so need to see if daughter's dive kit is still here under her bed ;)

You have had a good week of mileage V'rap walking and running, but always good to see a lower number after a change in menu like that :)

Sounds like good timing, Vrap. Iā€™m staying off the scales for now.

I think my parents' acceptance of my running was helped by the fact that I'm not thin and I ate what was put in front of me.

Nice V'rap. The cayke however sounds pretty gross!

I have just come in and pleased to have prepped and seeded my wildflower area. Too late and too cold for my intended run/walk, so we stick with: freezing my @rse off having lunch outside for the first time this year šŸ˜Ž

I may try my hand at baking gluten free hot cross buns later, that would be a newt!

My newt for today was visiting Barnes High Street. I used to run past Barnes on my long runs many years ago and never knew there was a whole little village away from the river. Broke lockdown rules to meet up with my friend but we stayed outdoors and as we did a bit of walking I think we can class it as exercise! I've not seen her since 29th December which is probably the longest gap we've had since we were at different universities.

What makes purple velvet cake purple?? (Isn't red velvet red because it's got beetroot in it?)

There are daffodils and crocuses coming out in my front garden. I might have learned something in my riding lesson this afternoon. We'll see if I can replicate it next week.

About This Thread

starblackheartstar The sixth running of Do a New Thing for Spring starblackheartstar

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.

The first few pages of the thread give more ideas.
