Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Might be some contamination on the rotors - I find cleaning them with disc cleaner (or isopropyl alcohol) can help.

Try a bit of oil. Gets rid of the squeak brilliantly. Brakes work like shite after. But at least they don’t squeak.

Discs can be an arse for squealing. Some will behave, some are an almost permanent cacophony.

You can try cleaning the pads and rotors with a alcohol spray, you can try sanding both down and bedding them in again, you can replace pads and you can realign the calipers. If you're lucky one of them will work. However, and especially if you're on wet or dirty roads there is a decent chance they'll never become quiet. I have some on a CX bike that are violently noisy, and even a couple of local bike shops don't seem to be able to sort it for more than a couple of days riding.

I tried all of Cathy’s suggestions before realising my brakes were actually leaking brake fluid. My friend didn’t like my silent ‘fixed’ bike though because I was easier to keep track of with squealing brakes.

Would anyone know of a charity where I can donate old cycling kit? Have some bib shorts, padded shorts and a couple of charity cycle jerseys that are too small for me bit too good to throw away (size 12's if anyone wants 😂)

Would the bib shorts fit me, Mandy? Only if you can't find a charity .I wouldn't want to take them from someone who would need them more than me.

Newbie question... any advice for removing a stuck pedal, and a stuck seat post (alloy (poss steel) post in a steel frame). Yes it is the same bike. And, with regard to the pedal, yes I know, and yes I have been!

Tried a bit of heat on the pedal; do I need to remove crank and put it in a vice? Is wd40 a waste of time? Happy to destroy the pedal provided I can then remove it.
