Just looked it up. Our touring party (to India) had eight players with links to SA, and the tour was blocked.

And this: bbc.co.uk - the most understated of all the top seven, and still scoring well.

We had Chanderpaul for a short time at Lancashire and he was excellent -difficult to dislodge when he's in, exactly what you need in a crisis. VVS Laxman was another great example of a top class batsman who always seemed to have loads of time.

The slaughter of Simon Kerrigan on and off the field has perhaps been put into some perspective by the way they've gone after Swanny in the first 3 tests. Spinners like Kerrigan who has won games for Lancs almost single handedly and next year will be in the first division need to be nurtured as do the likes of Borthwick at Durham who can also bat. Moen Ali must also be someone to come into contention.

A bit like Ganguly at Lancs then -expected everyone to do everything for him, including batting

Indeed, I watched him in a county game and when he was fielding he never once took his hands out of his pockets.

Lopsy Tsotsobe was a total disaster for us at Essex the other year. Went at about 6 an over for the 2 or 3 matches he played and apparently had a shocking attitude.

Only one county had the services of a certain Sachin Tendulkar.

Lehmann is the best overseas signing ever though. Did wonders for Yorkshire.

Lou Vincent for Lancs, one of the few to have hammered a ton in 20/20, Ashwell Prince has been a long term stalwart for Lancs and last year Simon Katich was magnificent.

The best performers for Lancs from overseas must go down as Murali, Clive Lloyd and Farokh Engineer
