VVS Laxman was another great example of a top class batsman who always seemed to have loads of time. The slaughter of Simon Kerrigan on and off the field has perhaps been put into some perspective by the way they've gone after Swanny in the first 3 tests. Spinners like Kerrigan who has won games for Lancs almost single handedly and next year will be in the first division need to be nurtured as do the likes of Borthwick at Durham who can also bat. Moen Ali must also be someone to come into contention.

The best performers for Lancs from overseas must go down as Murali, Clive Lloyd and Farokh Engineer
