Yes, although I don't think Woakes is good enough for the main squad, I'd have expected him to be in the development squad at least. Not sure his bowling is as good as you think CH, though. He's not quick enough, which on some pitches will see him exposed.
Difference between Compton and Carberry is that Compton has got test hundreds, and despite me being a Yorkshireman, was unlucky to be dropped from the squad in the first place.

Looking at the tour itinerary I can only assume whoever at the ECB agreed to it must be an Aussie
Warm ups in Perth then over to Tasmania then up to Sydney is a crazy amount of flying. Then Alice Springs between the 1st 2 tests!
We are lucky that there isn't enough space between the 3rd and 4th Tests to send us to Cairns or Darwin!
I reckon a total of about 7000 miles of travelling in Australia and 5 flights in less that 5 weeks, between the 1st warm up game and the start of the 2nd test in addition to the flight to Oz in the 1st place
