um - If you look at the straight numbers (400/9000 x 100) that's a mortality rate of 4.4%, however, it's not a fair calculation as most people die something like 17 days after first infection, so you'd have to go back 2-3 weeks to get the real number of cases to divide by. This still wouldn't take into account the asymptomatic people, which may be 50% of those infected, and won't be counted by KCL, so I think it probably is still around 1%, although I haven't really been following the numbers as much recently.

It’s still all pretty much consistent with 1% fatality rate. The testing misses a lot of cases (plenty of people don’t get very ill and the false negative rate is significant). |

I had hoped the question on can you stay overnight may have extended to allow us to stay at the boat (more first world problems) but was targeted as a dog at Cummingsgate by adding for example to visit family. So another 3 weeks until we find out I presume. We will do a day trip this weekend but overnighter would have been preferable even if it was done move your mobile home. |

I'm sorry that a lot of you are find life hard at the moment, I'm thinking of you all. It sounds really tough in the UK still. More good news in NZ, today was the 7th day in a row with no new cases. There is still no-one in hospital, and we're down to only one active case! I suspect that a combination of good luck and the "go hard, go early" with clear communication (https://covid19.govt.nz/alert-system/alert-level-2/) approach has worked. Our 4 week lockdown, "level 4" was definitely stricter than yours, but we've been able to move more quickly out through the alert levels. Full level 2 now, with gatherings of up to 100 people allowed, but still working from home if you can (like me). The borders are still closed to non-New Zealanders (and special cases). Hopefully the trans-Tasman bubble will happen soon. |

I don't want to get political, but I think having a leader with a Bachelor of Communication Studies come in handy for this situation. That, a good dose of good luck, and listening to some very good experts has helped. PS. sorry if my post sounded like I was bragging. My family all live in the UK, and I do to some extent understand how tough things are right now. |
